Privacy Policy
In short: the app has no accounts, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking. It does not collect personal information and does not send personal information to us or to anyone else. The only thing it fetches from the internet is audio.
1. Who we are
The Gracious Quran app is published by Apps Innovate (“we”). It presents the English rendering of the Quran by Dr. Ahmad Zaki Hammad together with the Arabic text, recitation and narration. Questions about this policy go to support@graciousquranhammad.com.
2. Information we do not collect
We do not collect, store or receive personal information. There is no sign-up, no user account and no profile. The app contains no analytics, advertising or crash-reporting services and no third-party tracking code. We do not sell, rent or share personal information with anyone, because we have none.
3. Information that stays on your device
- Reading data. Your reading position, bookmarks, settings (display language, reading mode, reciter, audio language and the like) and any audio you download are stored only on your device. Deleting the app deletes them.
- Location. If you turn on prayer times, the qibla or the prayer-times widget, the app asks for your approximate location (low accuracy). Prayer times and the qibla direction are calculated on your device from that location. Your location is never transmitted to us or to any server. You can withdraw the permission at any time in your phone's settings; the rest of the app keeps working without it.
- Reminders. Prayer reminders (the athan) are scheduled locally on your device. No reminder data leaves the device.
4. Information sent over the internet
The app connects to the internet for one purpose: to fetch audio.
- The English narration is downloaded from our server at
audio.graciousquranhammad.com, delivered through Cloudflare's content delivery network. - The Arabic recitation is downloaded from
everyayah.com, a public, free recitation archive.
Like every web server, these servers receive your device's IP address and the name of the requested file in order to deliver it. The requests carry no account, device identifier or other information about you, and we do not use them to build profiles. Cloudflare processes the requests on our behalf under its own privacy policy. Audio you download for offline listening is stored on your device and is not fetched again.
5. Sharing a verse
When you use Share to send a verse as text or as an image, the content is handed to your phone's share sheet and to the app you choose there. We are not involved in that transfer and do not see it.
6. Permissions the app asks for
- Internet — to stream and download audio.
- Approximate location — for prayer times and the qibla, only if you enable them.
- Notifications and exact alarms — to sound the athan at prayer time, only if you enable reminders.
- Background playback (foreground service, wake lock) — to keep the audio playing with the screen off.
- Run after restart — to re-schedule your prayer reminders after the phone restarts.
On iPhone the equivalent permissions are requested the first time you use the feature, and each can be changed later in Settings.
7. Watch apps
The companion apps for Apple Watch and Huawei watches show prayer times, the qibla and reminders. They follow the same practices as the phone app: the location is used on the watch to calculate the times, and nothing is sent to us.
8. Children
The app does not collect personal information from anyone, including children. It contains no advertising, no in-app purchases and no social features.
9. Security and retention
Audio is delivered over HTTPS. We hold no personal data on our servers, so there is nothing of yours there to retain or to lose. Everything the app keeps lives on your device and is removed when you delete the app.
10. Changes to this policy
If the app's practices change, we will update this page and the effective date at the top. A material change will also be noted in the app's store listing.
